Olay Regenerist Skincare Review
Olay is a heavily marketed Proctor & Gamble subsidy that mainly targets women. I’ve seen countless ads and billboards for Olay, so I decided that I had to make a review. I got the entire Regenerist line because I believe that it’s better to prevent wrinkles than treat them so I do use lots of anti aging products. The first thing I used was the Brightening Cream Cleanser that claimed to “hydrate to instantly illuminate skin and recapture healthy-looking, youthful luminosity.” It smelled very sweet and artificial, it had a weird scrub feeling, and left some of my face very red, especially my cheeks and above my eye brows. I later realized it had two types of alcohol which is probably what’s responsible for the redness and my skin did not feel hydrated. The Ultimate Hydration Essense claimed to be a “hydrating mist that calms dry and tight skin” that had a very strong perfume smell, which I was surprised at because it has chamomile extract (which it did not smell like); however, it smells strong and it lingers. My skin felt okay after using it but nothing to rave about. The Tone Perfection Serum with B3 + Vitamin C claims to “surge into [the] skin’s surface for visibly more even tone and a healthy glow,” however, it had a strange scent and a weird white color that I wouldn’t expect in a Vitamin C serum. It felt alright but it didn’t feel extremely hydrating and it left a sticky feeling on my face. I also wanted to note that it contains Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate which is the salt version of Vitamin C so it is not as powerful, whereas I personally prefer Ascorbic Acid which is the natural version. The Micro-Sculpting Eye Swirl claimed to be a “swirl of gel to deliver anti-aging ingredients deep into the skin’s surface.” First off, I love that it's a gel because it sunk straight into my skin and I love that it had peptides which help stimulate the skin and prevent wrinkles. The packaging is also very cute and I like the look of the swirl—the eye gel surprised me for sure. The Micro-Sculpting Cream claims to be “supercharged with skin plumping advanced Amino Peptide,” but it had a weird scent that smelled like chemicals. It also had a weird consistency and micro-bead sensation that caused my skin to feel like it was being tugged at. After applying my skin felt sticky and felt like it still needed hydration. I also didn’t like that it had four types of alcohol—I do not use products that contain alcohol since it can cause dryness and irritation. Overall I think the only product I would recommend would be the eye gel; other than that I think the rest of the products could benefit from being alcohol free. Thanks so much for reading
