La Roche-Posay Skincare Review
La Roche-Posay is a French cult pharmacy skincare brand. They focus on creating skincare for sensitive skin, and I had used the Acne Clearing Kit when I was a teen, but I didn't like it. So the other day I saw an ad for the sensitive skin and decided I should try it out. I got the basics from their sensitive line, and I have to say I am surprised. The Purifying Foaming Gel claims to "purify skin without drying" and it smells like soap even though it claims to be soap-free, and when I squeezed the bottle bubbles came out. It's a gel and foams up gently; however, my skin felt very tight and dry afterward. The smell was overwhelming, and I don't think I would use it again, as the only active ingredient is Zinc, which can remove oil without hydrating. I used the Ultra Micellar Water as a toner, and it left my skin smooth and clean. It smelled light, and it balanced my skin out from the cleanser and left me feeling more hydrated. The Retinol B3 Serum is supposed to remove lines and wrinkles as well as premature skin damage. It smelled pleasant and applied very easily, I do not like that the retinol was in a dropper system instead of airtight packaging as it can oxidize quickly. It absorbed quickly into my skin however, it felt slightly tingling, and I don't particularly appreciate that it has alcohol because it left my skin feeling sticky. The Ultra Soothing Reparative Moisturizer contains spring water and claims to be for sensitive skin. However, it made my skin feel very greasy. It didn't absorb into my skin well, and the moisturizer felt heavy. I'm also surprised that it says no alcohol yet contains Cetyl Alcohol, which can irritate, and I got some red patches after using this moisturizer. The eye cream with Vitamin C claims to "hydrate and fill wrinkles;" I wanted to like it, but it felt heavy, and it tingled a little. I didn't like that it had alcohol and I would've preferred it as a gel. Overall I think the products were okay, but it was underwhelming, and I am surprised that it is not organic or natural. I also think the packaging is subpar as it's all plastic, and I would've wished for more from the brand, especially at the price point. Thanks so much for reading.
