Peter Thomas Roth Skincare Haul
Peter Thomas Roth is a global skincare line that started with a personal quest to find effective products to treat his skincare concerns. His initial concern was acne, but as time went on anti-aging issues began to become a concern. His interests eventually grew into a desire to find the best tools to combat acne and the many signs of aging, as well as protecting skin from sun damage. His mission is to combine active and potent ingredients with advanced technology. I recently decided to do a haul so that I could determine which collection best suited my skin. I have used many Peter Thomas Roth masks before and have never had a complaint, so I wanted to do an in-depth review of his skincare. I bought the Potent C Power Trio and Water Drench Collection because one uses the power of antioxidants and Vitamin C to reduce wrinkles and improves firmness, while the other has hyaluronic acid that transforms atmospheric vapor into fresh, pure water from the clouds, providing your skin with a continuous burst of intense hydration that lasts up to 72 hours. The two collections have very different benefits and ingredients, but I am always open to trying new things!
The Potent C Power Trio contained an eye cream, serum, and moisturizer. The Vitamin C eye cream smells like bubblegum, which I don’t love, but it feels tightening. The Vitamin C serum doesn't feel like a serum; it has the consistency of a moisturizer or lotion. It feels very strong & full of acids that may cause reactions on people with very sensitive skin, making it one of my least favorite products in the collection. The Vitamin C Serum doesn’t smell citrus-like, like other vitamin C serums I've tried which is a bit disappointing. The Vitamin C Moisturizer claims to be fragrance-free, but has a strange scent and consistency. It has a diamond powder that may irritate the top layer of skin, since it is an exfoliant, and feels weird while applying. I wouldn’t suggest using it everyday, especially during summer as the over exfoliation causes your skin to become more susceptible to sun damage. Overall, I was disappointed with the Potent C Power Trio, as I expected a bang and to fall in love, but instead I felt like it was too strong for my skin and contained too much acid. Sometimes less is more, and that especially applies in skincare.
The Water Drench collection will be receiving a more positive review, as it is designed for sensitive skin and contains hyaluronic acid, which holds a 100x its water weight. The entire collection is oil-free, alcohol-free, and fragrance-free. The Cloud Cleanser feels gentle, but after removing it, it felt like there was some leftover residue on my skin. The Hyaluronic Acid Serum was one of my favorite products I tried, as it felt amazing and lightweight. My skin felt hydrated and plump afterwards, and as an added benefit it contains no acid. The Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream was sent from heaven in my opinion! I'm always concerned about which moisturizers I can get away with using once Fall rolls around and the air inside & out starts to get dry. Since I have sensitive skin, my skin occasionally dries up, so giving it the right type of hydration is vital. I'm really satisfied with this moisturizer because it feels lightweight, while giving my skin a nice burst of hydration. The hyaluronic acid plumps up my skin, revealing a healthy complexion. The texture is amazing and a great trick of mine is that I love that I can put this in the fridge so it applies nice and cool in the morning. I learned this trick from the Cucumber Gel Mask, which is an ultra gel mask full of botanical extracts which helps moisturize and is amazing at getting rid of sunburns.
After reviewing both collections, without a doubt in my mind, I can say that I will not be reusing the Potent C Power Trio, as it is way too powerful for my skin and very far from from what my skin can take. I didn’t like the textures of any of the creams and the worst part for me probably had to be the smells or rather lack thereof. When I think of Vitamin C, I think of oranges and other citrus smells, but instead I was bombarded with an unnatural scent that lingered for hours and gave me a headache. However, I loved the Water Drench Collection! It was very hydrating and didn't irritate my skin at all. The hyaluronic acid added an extra burst of hydration, and I loved that the entire collection is oil-free, alcohol- free and fragrance-free. If I had to recommend a collection of skincare from Peter Thomas Roth without a doubt in my mind, it would be the Water Drench collection, as it is suited for all skin types and has multiple benefits for people of any age. Thanks so much for reading! XOXO
