Shea Moisture Skincare Review
Shea Moisture is a huge brand that was founded in Sierra Leon in 1912. Sofi Tucker began by selling Shea Butter that she produced her self and created hair products and moisturizer. For a while now, I have been using the hair products because it is organic and sulfate-free, which is very important to me because my hair and scalp are very sensitive. The other day I was walking through Walmart and saw that they had skincare, so I decided that I had to try it out since I love the hair products. I bought the entire set that they had on the shelf, and the only thing I wasn’t able to buy was the toner and lip balm. So the first product I used in the Shea Moisture Skincare routine was the Bamboo Charcoal Foaming Face Wash which is a liquid to foam face wash, it felt very gentle, I liked it, but it didn’t feel like it was deeply cleansing my skin, however it contains aloe, so it’s cleansing and moisturizing at the same time. The next product I used was the clarifying scrub which is a gentle scrub which I love because I can feel it cleansing deep inside of the skin and it contains tea tree oil which is amazing for breakouts however it is important to note that you should only use this twice a week as over scrubbing your skin with exfoliators can cause you to break out. The African Black Soap Mud Mask was definitely not for me, it has a very water-downed formula, and I left it on for over 20 minutes and it never fully dried. The Mud Mask also made my skin feel a little itchy, so I do not suggest using this mask as there are better masks on the market. The 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Moisturizer smells fantastic and leaves my skin feeling super hydrated and refreshed. As you all probably know, if you read my skincare blog posts, I have very sensitive skin and the virgin coconut oil moisturizer was super lightweight and sunk directly into my skin and feels matte after a couple of minutes and a little goes a long way. The Bamboo Charcoal Gelee Moisturizer smelled very similar to candle wax and has a weird gel consistency, the moisturizer feels sticky and made my skin feel greasy, so for me personally, it doesn’t work. The Overnight Face Oil smells amazing and is very hydrating while still being lightweight which is surprising for an oil, I apply this to my skin when I feel like it needs an extra burst of hydration after moisturizer and in the morning I wake up with glowing, dewy skin, the only issue I have with this oil is the packaging because it should be in an airtight container but other than that I love it. All in all, there are some products in Shea Moistures skincare line that I love, such as the Scrub, Coconut Oil Moisturizer, & Overnight face oil.
