Snack Cravings? Try these Vegan Snacks Out
Do you sometimes find yourself staring into the abyss of your refrigerator, either late at night or at a random time during the day, looking for something to satisfy that annoying craving you have? Well, you’re not alone. I too, have found myself in that situation, staring into the refrigerator for what feels like hours in the middle of the night.
I found a way to curb these cravings through a podcast by Impact Theory, which stated that eating high caloric and sugary snacks before bed actually made you more hungry and induced insomnia. I typically get my snacks from Whole Foods, Amazon, and Trader Joe’s, and a few Florida-based supermarkets like Publix and Winn Dixie. When browsing, I always try to select vegan products.
Choosing vegan products is a smarter and healthier option for several reasons. Firstly, vegan snacks are often lower in saturated fats and higher in essential nutrients, such as fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. These nutrients help in maintaining a balanced diet and promoting overall health. Secondly, vegan products tend to have fewer processed ingredients and artificial additives, making them a cleaner choice for your body.
Moreover, opting for vegan snacks is environmentally beneficial. The production of plant-based foods generally requires fewer resources, such as water and land, and results in lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to animal-based products. By choosing vegan snacks, you are contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly food system.
Additionally, many people find that a vegan diet can help with weight management. Plant-based foods are often lower in calories and can help you feel fuller for longer due to their high fiber content. This can be particularly useful when trying to avoid late-night cravings.
There are also vegan alternatives for almost every craving. For instance, if you love beef jerky, you can find delicious vegan jerky made from mushrooms, soy, or other plant-based ingredients. One of my go-to late-night snacks is Oatly ice cream, which is made from oats. It’s creamy, delicious, and satisfies my sweet tooth without the guilt.
So, next time you find yourself peering into the refrigerator, consider reaching for a healthy vegan snack. Your body, mind, and the planet will thank you.
