How I Score Designer Clothing at Affordable Prices

Anyone who knows me knows that I love designer clothing. One look through my Instagram will show me covered in some of my favorite brands, such as Versace, Dior, Tom Ford, and many others. But, I don’t love the extravagant price points these brands carry. Who would? That’s why I’ve developed my own strategy of purchasing the brands I love at more affordable prices.

I use specific retailers like Saks Off Fifth, Nordstrom Rack, and other outlet stores. Online retailers such as Cettire, Ssense, TheRealReal, Luisa Via Roma, Farfetch, Matches Fashion, and the ShopStyle app are also great resources. Many of these retailers are European and have preseason sales, such as Cettire, Ssense, Farfetch, Luisa Via Roma, and Matches Fashion. This is how I manage to get pieces straight off the runway quickly and affordably. Additionally, I sometimes shop at sample sales when they pop up which is a great way to save on the latest pieces.

Having studied fashion on my own and attended fashion school, I know that reselling clothes can be a lucrative business due to the supply and demand of certain drops. While I used to resell clothes on Grailed, I now prefer to keep my purchases as long-term investments. However, if a piece no longer gives me that special feeling, I might still resell it.

Certain Louis Vuitton pieces are seasonal, meaning they are only made for a specific season. It's rumored that Louis Vuitton burns excess inventory to maintain exclusivity and hype. So for certain pieces it’s near impossible to get them on sale like my iridescent high tops from the Summer 21 collection.

By strategically shopping at these retailers and taking advantage of sales, I can enjoy the luxury and style of high-end designer brands without breaking the bank.
