Shiseido Waso New Product Line Review
Shiseido is a Japanese skincare brand used by many millennials for its deep roots in many of our older relatives medicine/toiletry cabinets. Shiseido is one of the oldest and most recognized skincare brands dating back to 1872. Shiseido products contain a blend of botanical based extracts as well as commonly used skin care ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and retinol. Their philosophy is to create skincare backed by scientific research. I have been obsessed with Shiseido since I was a kid loving their Ibuki line that I have a couple of blog posts on and only using their sunscreen because it doesn’t sit on the skin and create oil. Shiseido just released their Waso line, and it’s targeted toward millennials, the reason many people love Shiseido is because they claim to use organic products “Every component of the product’s formula utilizes safe ingredients based on Shiseido’s unique standards. Patch tests under the supervision of dermatologists have conducted. Skincare is food for the skin, and we never compromise on its quality.” (quote from Shiseido representative about Waso line). I decided to buy and try out some products after receiving a newsletter with the new products and intriguing ingredients. I purchased the Waso Cleanser, Moisturizer and Mask to try out the new line. The quick gentle cleanser had a nice floral smell, and didn’t over foam, which I appreciated because your skin can break out from over-drying and irritation. The ingredients in the cleanser were even more interesting being honey and royal jelly from bees, honey is a very well known antibacterial, so I enjoyed using this product and loved both the feeling and smell afterward. The mask will be in a separate review linked below. The moisturizer claimed to be “a specially-formulated intensely hydrating clear cream with whole carrot cells” when I read this, I was immediately drawn in as I have never used carrot cells in skincare. The packaging for the moisturizer is very, and the moisturizer has a clear consistency; however, I did not enjoy the smell of it because it has a powerful alcohol scent because it contains alcohol which I didn’t realize until after applying. I read the sales pitch and didn’t think to read the ingredients until I decided to check and I was correct. Overall the moisturizer is mediocre at best and should be discontinued for alcohol, which dries out your skin. The cleanser was very lovely and worth it for the honey and royal jelly. I’m very disappointed that the moisturizer has alcohol because I would’ve loved to try a carrot cell cream; however, I do not use any products with alcohol on my skin cause it can create early signs of aging and acne from over-drying. I will be keeping the cleanser in my routine because I liked it; however, the moisturizer is going straight to my dupe section. Thanks so much for reading xoxo, -Chaz
