Sephora Skincare Collection
Sephora, the makeup powerhouse, recently released a new collection of skincare. They are targeting their skincare towards millennials and are trying to compete with drug store companies by pricing all of their products in the collection under $20. The main question I wanted answered by trying out this new collection was whether or not my skin would react to the preservatives inside the products. None of them are 100% natural; they all claim to have a certain percentage for “texture.” I started out with using the face cleanser, which felt like it was foaming way too much and had no scent. Personally, I don’t think I’ll be using this product again. The Bright Skin Exfoliating Volcano Sand Scrub is a deep black exfoliating scrub with what they claim to be “volcanic sand,”(TBD). The grainy consistency was not harsh at all and made my skin feel baby soft. I will definelty be adding this into my skin rotation and recommending it to friends. The Zinc Mask claimed to get rid of sebum, which is excess oil that builds up in your skin and can cause acne. It applies easily and I removed it with a wet warm towel. The scent, once I put the mask on, gave me a light migraine. After a few minutes, the mask changed colors, from grey to white, and I had no idea this was going to happened so I was surprised. The Hydrating Gel Mask was pretty good, but reminded me a lot of Laneige’s sleeping mask. The serum with Vitamin C and E was the worst product in the collection, in my opinion. The smell was close to that of rotting fish…no thank you. I noticed that the packaging wasn’t airtight, like a pump where the product is never exposed to air, so the product begins to oxidize the second you open it. The clear packaging is also a cause that will lead to oxidation in the Vitamin C Serum. There was nothing particularly special about the moisturizer; it was pretty lackluster. It left my skin feeling sticky. Overall, I would only recommend the Zinc Mask, Volcanic Sand Scrub, and the Hydrating Mask. I would definitely like to see Sephora move to all natural products, especially since they’re one of the largest makeup and skincare retail stores. Thanks for reading…xoxo
